The Peaceful Protest

As a topic for discussion, who is up for protesting "Peacefully" outside the respective government offices? For what reason? For those of you who do not know that Jason Owen, (one of Baby Peter Connelly's killers) was freed last month and is free to roam around in parks and outside schools. This is outrageous. Surely he should have been given onerous bail conditions that would stop him from doing so.
What one voice for the kids is planning to do is, host a peaceful protest outside the following locations: Houses of Parliament, Downing Street, Government Office Holyrood Edinburgh, Welsh Government Cardiff all on the same day. If you cannot get to the above locations, please lobby your local council offices. This will encourage like minded organisations to join in the protest. Organisations from Scotland would be able to join the one in Edinburgh and organisations from London would be able to join the one in London and so on... The aim of the protest is simple...Throughout the UK, the justice system needs to be looked at urgently and we need to address this issue and the only way to do this is to protest outside the government offices in large numbers throughout the country all on the same day. This will increase media attention.

  1. Let me share a dream with you. Supposing a group in the north of Scotland was going to Downing Street to hand in a petition, but nobody knew about it? Try that vision again, but this time there is a Network where they can tell other like-minded groups about their visit. A few of those groups read the event, and waiting in Downing Street are a number of London groups who have come to lend their support. Very different scenario.

The purpose of this protest is, to inform the respective Parliaments that there must be a change in the laws for crimes made against children as ours are among the weakest in the world. A society that cannot protect its children, has no future. The Government won't serve us, The Judicary won't serve justice and police won't protect us.....WHY?

In closure to this post, I would like to say, please understand the spirit of what we are trying to achieve. We do not want to take anything away from the groups that are part of the Network, we value their autonomy. All we are trying to do is, provide a place where they can come together and find each other, with the aim to create a meaningful dialogue between them. Perhaps in mutual support we can make the difference we are all looking for. Please visit the Against Child Abuse Network by clicking the following link: http://acanetwork.org.uk Have a look at how it can benefit so many. The forum to the network can be found via this link: http://www.mousewaggler.co.uk/forum/default.asp We have restricted this to invite only to filter out any spam. Look for the link to join the forum which is located on the right hand side of the home page. It might be worth having multiple venues at least in every shire, the main ones obviously being London and Holyrood.
